New York City – Neighborhood Safety
Although New York consistently ranks at or near the top of any list of the country’s safest major cities, some areas require more caution than others.
The following color-coded maps of the five boroughs are based on precinct-by-precinct police department statistics for the total number of reported crimes in four categories; murder, rape, robbery and aggravated assault. Blue areas denote neighborhoods with the fewest reported crimes, red denotes neighborhoods with the most.
These maps are only “statistical snapshots” and do not guarantee safe passage through any neighborhood. And remember; in New York – or any other destination – when it comes to your safety, there’s no substitute for common sense.
